Ringing in the New Year

We celebrated an early New Year's Eve with the countdown at 6pm. The kids had fun with the noisemakers -- that's one activity that requires no explanation!

Owen got a bike with training wheels for his birthday and he enjoys riding that around. He is almost ready for the training wheels to come off. Zoe likes to chase him on her tricycle and can go pretty fast.

Zoe has been saying a lot of words over the holiday break. She says 'Daddy' loud and clear. Other favorites are 'gato' (Spanish for cat) and 'permisso' (Spanish for 'excuse me'). She often shortens this to 'mi-ssso!'

She invented a game where she would walk around the dinner table and when she got behind each chair, she would say 'mi-so' and she would wait for the person to shift their chair in before moving on to the next one.

Here she is building a tower and trying to get the top one just right:

Owen and Phil are trying to make buttermilk by shaking the heavy whipping cream for the Irish soda muffins. But it only made whipped butter, which tasted good nonetheless.
