Now I'm working on a story about a place I visited in Bangkok called
Mercy Centre, which operates orphanages, schools, an HIV clinic and community center in the slums of Klong Toey, where some taxi drivers refused to take me. It is a place where kids who have HIV can play and go to school. It is a place where kids who have been abandoned (or left behind in the municipal garbage dump) can find a new kind of family. These kids have endured the toughest of times and yet still radiate happiness. It is simply a place of joy.
