Birthday Circle

At Owen's school, they celebrate birthday circles by inviting the parents to visit and talk about each year that the child has been on the earth and show a photo for each trip around the sun. Owen walked around the ellipse holding a globe and we talked about the activities he liked to do. Afterwards, the kids asked him some questions and we were surprised by some of the answers.

Wolf.

Q: What's your favorite sea animal?
Shark.

Q: What's your favorite insect?
Ladybug.

Q: What's your favorite flying animal?
Don't have one.

Q: Do you like water parks?
No. (Never been to one.)

Q: Do you like pools?
Yes.

Q: Do you like going to the beach?
Yes.

Q: When were you born?
2008 (mom answered).

Q: What hospital were you born in?
Northside (mom answered).

Q: What was your doctor's name?
Dr. Sun (mom answered).*

Q: What's your favorite food?
Carrots.

Q: Do you like playgrounds?
Yes.

Q: Do you like the monkey bars?
No.

Q: Do you like the slide?
Yes.

Q: What are your favorite materials in the classroom?
Cylinder blocks.

Q: What is your favorite type of candle?
Diya (a candle used in the Indian Diwali celebration).

*Later I remembered that it wasn't my OB Dr. Sun that delivered Owen, but Dr. Soufi because he came two weeks early and Dr. Sun was out of the country. I mentioned that to Owen and he said, "I know, you told me that."
